She fits in your pocket now

A native client is published on the iOS App Store and on Google Play. The trynectar app talks to the same backend as the web product — same account, same thread, same memory graph — and adds push notifications, sub-second cold start, and a chrome-free fullscreen UI. The binary is around 35 MB and free to download on both stores.

Both platforms are first-class. iOS 15+ on iPhone and iPad, Android 9+ on phones and tablets. Whatever you do on one device replicates to the other in real time — the account is the unit of state, not the device. A roleplay started on iPhone over coffee can be continued on an Android tablet that evening with zero context cost.

Browser is the default surface and works everywhere. Phone, tablet, desktop, no install step, no app-store gatekeeping. The native install is purely additive — push notifications, faster cold start, a fullscreen view. Most users start in the browser and only install once the product has earned a spot on the home screen.

Not in any meaningful way. There's no background polling — push relies on Apple and Google's standard notification infrastructure, which is free in battery terms. Active chat sessions cost roughly what an active iMessage or WhatsApp session costs. Image generation is server-side, so the device GPU stays idle. Passive daily drain is in the noise floor.

When the companion sends an unprompted message — a follow-up, a check-in, a thought between sessions — push fires on the device the app is installed on. Per-character mutes are supported. Quiet hours are configurable. Frequency caps prevent flood scenarios. Push is off until you opt in at first launch, and revoking the permission later is one trip to system settings.

Sync is sub-second on a normal connection. A message sent from the trynectar app is already in the laptop browser tab before you've put the phone down. Memory updates, image gallery additions, character settings, read receipts, unread badges — all replicate together. There's no merge conflict logic because the thread is a single object, not two copies.

Free on both stores, free to use on the bottom tier, no card required at signup. Free tier covers unlimited text chat, the persistent memory layer, basic image generation, and push notifications. Premium adds voice replies and higher-resolution images, but the core experience works fully without paying anything.

Two prompts, both optional. Notifications, asked at first launch for push delivery. Photo library, asked only when you actively upload an image. Nothing else — no contacts, no location, no microphone, no calendar, no background services beyond the standard push listener. Revoking either permission later from system settings doesn't break the app.
